Spring Break Road Trip 2009!!!
On the road again...

Sever and I decided to go on a short road trip down to California for Spring Break. We left on Tuesday and drove to Monterey in 12 hours. We spent the night in Monterey and went to the aquarium the next day before heading to Carmel. Despite all the field trips that were going on we had a great time at the aquarium...it puts the Newport aquarium to shame. Next we drove down to Carmel (Holly's favorite) to take Moser to the dog beach. It was such a beautiful place, we felt a little out of place with all the fancy stores and automobiles... Clint Eastwood was once the mayor of Carmel (need I explain more). But I mean what town isn't great with a Coach store and Tiffany & Co. We hung out in Carmel for the day and then headed out to Carmel Valley where we had arranged a place to stay (with one of Holly's student's grandparents :) )! We had so much fun hanging out on a mini vineyard and letting Moser swim in the pool. We went out to a great dinner with our host and hostess where we got to sample some great wine. The worst part about staying with people we didn't know was that they were Duck fans, otherwise we got along great! After having a wonderful time in Carmel Valley we made the drive up to San Francisco. Wow, what a busy place. Once we found the hotel and parked the truck, we refused to drive anymore. We took Moser for a walk down at Golden Gate park, which is right under the bridge. Everyone in San Francisco is always running or walking... it was a busy place. After we wore the dog out, Sever and I headed down to the Fisherman's Wharf for dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. The food was not so great, my chicken was still raw...but we felt like we couldn't not go to the Hard Rock Cafe. On Friday we woke up early and made the long drive home, only 11 hours this time due to our short (long) cut through Sonoma and Napa. We had a great trip and are really not looking forward to heading back to work on Monday.
Happy Spring everyone!

New Material Needed!
Wow, I just realized that this should be the MOSER blog. Haha, or I need to get some new material. We are going on a Spring Break road trip....I will be sure to blog about it when we get back. Happy March!
Food for Thought
This is a picture of our worst nightmare, lately...yes it is dog food! Moser has been having some serious food allergies and has been refusing to eat. We have had him on 5 different dog foods over the course of 10 months, all of which he had a reaction to, ear infections, chewing the fur out of his tail, refusing to eat, problems going to the bathroom. Labs love to eat everything, so when Moser stopped eating his food we thought something had to be wrong and called the vet. After many expensive vet bills, x-rays, and food changes Moser was still not eating. Then we left Moser with my family while we were in Hawaii, the poor thing had some anxiety issues while we are going and still doesn't like us to leave him. Everytime we put him in his kennel we have to say "Moser, we gotta go to work." This way he knows that we will be coming back for him. He has gotten better, there was one night that Sever was gone and Moser barked all night long...ugh! His anxiety did not help his eating situation. Here is Moser at 6 weeks, eating away!
However, I am happy to report that finally our vet has decided to put Moser on an allergen free diet...talk about the most expensive dog food you have ever seen. It must taste good because Moser has been eating it for a week now :)
Oh how we miss these days, he was such a cute puppy!

The Dog Days....
We have been finding all sorts of ways to keep Moser entertained! He loves to swim, so a couple of times a week and every weekend we take him over to our farm in St. Paul. He loves to swim in the pond and walk around the orchard. We also enjoy the beautiful walk and a tired dog after the day is over. This weekend we decided to head to the coast, we also try and fit in a couple of coast trips a month, Moser loves the beach! It was a beautiful day, we have a special beach that we take him to where is can be "free" and chew on as many sticks as he can find.

Kauai '08
Sever and I joined his family in Hawaii for Christmas. We left during the crazy weather, aka Arctic Blast '08, that was taking place in the Pacific Northwest. We barely made it to the airport after over an hour of driving with 4WD and chains on Sever's half ton pickup. We quickly parked the truck, left the chains on and headed to our terminal. Need we not forget that we both managed to get everything we needed down to a carry on bag each. Yes girls, I went to Hawaii for a week with only a carry on bag. Let it be known that the line to check bags was three hours long, we made the right choice. We soon found out that our flight was delayed and attempted to hop another flight. We went on stand by for the next flight out of PDX, within 5 minutes of being in the airport we were on a plane to Seattle. When we landed in Seattle we had just enough time to run to the terminal to catch our connection. As soon as we sat down at the terminal, a lady announced that the plane would board in 3 minutes. Meanwhile Sever and I were mentally still in Portland...did we really make it out of PDX?!? We boarded our plane to Li hue, Hawaii in hopes that in 5 and a half hours we would be sitting on a sunny beach. After two hours of sitting on the run way in Seattle we realized that our flight had been delayed...we had no pilot. Details... So we sat in the plane with no air for 2 hours until the pilot arrived. Once in flight we quickly found that all drinks were free and we took full advantage. We arrived in Hawaii late Monday night and spent one beautiful week on the beach. We had a wonderful Christmas and a very fun New Years Eve, once back in Portland. We got home Tuesday morning and were happily reminded of our stressful trek to the airport...Sever preceded to take the chains off of his truck before we could drive home :)
We are wishing you all a Happy New Year!
Love,
Holly and Sever
