Surprise Beach

What do you do when the boat won't start? Head down to the beach for a BBQ! Sever and I had a nice BBQ on the beach with Adam and Emily last night. It has been 65+ degrees here for the past week! We have been trying to enjoy every minute of the nice weather!

Coho Fishing

We went fishing this past Saturday, the bite was on for less than an hour! We caught 5 coho, and had a blast! I still have a bruise on my hand from playing one, they are a riot to catch!

This is a tribute to one of the best birthday presents I have ever received... Last year around mid July there was a box waiting on my door step, inside was a Canon EOS Rebel digital camera! I have been carting around a massive camera bag ever since, loving every minute of it! Below are some of my favorite photos, I hope you enjoy! I swore I would NEVER go there again....

Today we hiked the Naha Trail out of Ketchikan, Alaska... a trail I swore I would never hike again. Why you might ask?! Well, 5 years ago I came up to visit Sever for a week. It was only my second time in Ketchikan and I was a naive Oregonian. SURE, I would love to go for a hike it's not raining, sounds fun. Bears, never even crossed my mind. Well, funny thing was Bubbs, Sever's family dog chased BEARS at us 2 different times on our hike that day! The first time I was so scared, it was on our way to the river. Great, we kept going and didn't see that bear again. We got to the river and did some fishing (really, you are going to fish in a stream with hungry bears all around, you guys are CRAZY). Once it was time to head back, I decided to pick a walk/run pace for most of the trail, get me out of here! Well Bubbs was a great dog, but really he didn't need to send 2 more bears our way on the hike out... REALLY scared this time, I was speed walking my way to the boat. Whew, we made it with all our body parts and a great story. On that day I swore I would NEVER hike the Naha Trail again...

Well, five years later I bit the bullet and hiked the Naha Trail again.

End of the trail, we didn't see one BEAR!!! Whew!

I turned around and looked out the kitchen window and look what I saw... a huge bear! He was just sitting there eating berries. As soon as I went out to take his picture he turned around and looked at us, and then ultimately walked off.

It doesn't get more Alaskan than this...

As you can see we had a great time yesterday out on the boat. It was sunny and beautiful! We were surrounded by whales all day, it was amazing. We even saw one jump all the way out of the water, of course the camera was not ready. So cool! Not to mention our yummy halibut dinner that followed!
